Duties of a steward

"The steward is authorized to handle first step business and any other such business that may delegated to him from time to time by the Officers of Local 916.

In other words, he can leave his work station to be there first-hand to represent any member being called in, or leave his station to investigate a grievance.

He is a direct representative of the local and is elected and thereby appointed. Even if there is no steward election, one can be appointed by the principal officer to handle first hand problems occuring on the job site."
