Teamsters Hold Steady Against Rush of Pension Reform Proposals
Joint Council, Local Unions Committed to Illinois Public Employees
With the Illinois General Assembly on a two-week recess until April 10, the Teamsters are priming to protect member benefits from a flurry of new bills targeting the state's drastically underfunded public employee pension systems.

Sue A. Fickas:
1964 – 2013
Hearts are heavy at the Hall these days. Longtime Local 916 secretary Sue Fickas passed away June 12th from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident that occurred on June 8th. Sue preceded all of us at the Local Union office, with 19 years experience as secretary and Health & Welfare – Pension Specialist. We lost a tremendous amount of institutional history with her passing.
More than that, we lost a very special person. Sue was a light in the office, always cheerful on the phone and ready with a pleasant word and an offer to help. Every member who called in was “babe” and “hon” to Sue, and she was dedicated to making sure they had a good experience with the office. She was a true believer in the labor movement and Teamsters’ causes became her causes.Read more about Sue
